I can see the light

November 23rd, 2008 by aiscat317

Hi everyone,

I don’t know how you all are doing on the final drafts, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have read through the comments and fixed up the paper as best as possible. I have even added almost a page worth of text, because I saw that things needed to be explained better. I am feeling better about the papers content, but am having trouble finding out Bibliography format in the Turabian book, any advice? My worry now is the 10 minute presentation, I am scared I may bore all of you to death or sound stupid. I will do my best and provide as much information and neat pictures that help explain the points. I wish all good luck and happy grades. Any suggestions for presentations or paper please let me know.

Down to the wire

November 13th, 2008 by aiscat317

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well. I am currently writing the body of the paper about Lillian Wald, but still need a better catch phrase or something to get it going. I should have enough to fill the 6 to 8 pages. I know my problem will be citing correctly and or doing end notes right, but I supose that is what a rough draft is for. She has done so much at the Henry House it’s hard to choose the best information, but I am sure it will come to me. I wish you all good luck on your papers, and if anyone has ideas to help me please let me know. You know I think research is the fun part, writing is tough.

Where am I with my paper?

November 4th, 2008 by aiscat317

Hello All,

Well I have done a lot of research on Lillian Wald and the Work done at the Henry House Settlement. I am fairly confident that I can pull everything together in to a nice paper, but I am trying to figure a neat way to start it. Ya know that something catchy and attention getting. As far as primary sources I still need to get back to the library and look at the micro film and redo that, I lost my notes. Oops! I have tons of articles, books, etc to work from it’s just getting it all organized in the correct way that is my problem, but like everyone I am sure we will all put out a great paper. If anyone has a suggestion on organizing please let me know. This is kind of a biography/chronicle/I don’t know. I am not really sure as of yet what category it falls into. Well thanks and cheers everyone

Lillian Wald for a Topic

September 24th, 2008 by aiscat317

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to just remind everyone on my topic. The person is Lillian Wald, and she was an incrediable woman. Lillian was and still is very inspiring, and this is one reason why I wanted to research her. In a way she reminds me of me when it comes to our caring nature and wanting to help those who could not help themselves. I have done a tremendous amount of volunteer work over the years, and I know where she is coming from. I am a native New Yorker and I am also interested in tenement life. Lillian was a reformer for the immigrant and the poor, doing everything she could to improve their situation. If anyone has any comments on where to find more on her please let me know.

I have found that picking a topic is easy, but finding something insipring, worthwhile and meaningful is the hard part. I feel I have found a great topic and Lillian reminds me that with great ambition, there is no limit to what can be achieved.

PS Sorry if there is spelling problems the spell check is not working and I don’t know where my dictionary is. Forgive me please

Why a history major?

My name is Aislyn Cathers and it all started with my name. My name is Irish Gaelic and I wanted to know more about it. As I started reading about I found other topics of interest. Also my family is English and Scottish so I began to study that a bit. After a while I became more and more interested in what happened in life before me in other countries. I enjoy learning how the events of the past have influenced today and will impact the future. Some of my favorite time periods are Ancient Rome, Greece, Egyptian, Europe during the Renaissance, and most recently American History of the 20th century. I find History a challenge and I love a good challenge.

I hope to teach history in middle or high school one day, and with having a broad scope of interest I plan on making thing interesting for my students.
